Answer: Defining project methodology The project management methodology is the process of carrying out a set of activities related to a project. The activities, defined in the methodology, are done by following an organized procedure. Based on the requirements and objectives of a project the project manager should select the most suitable project management methodology. According to Tomanek and Juricek (2015), project management methodology enables the project managers to deliver accurate solution as well as profit to their business organization for with effective and manageable project work. For facilitating the management of project lifecycle the project management methodology has been created after considering the project requirements. Silvius, et al., (2017) stated that project management methodology is a process or framework that offers various phases that has to be followed by the project managers to meet the project objectives. Project management methodology offers a guideline to the business just after it nomina tes its project. Role of the methodology in project management It helps the business to fulfill the project plan as it supplies the required oversight. The project management methodology is designed as a consistent with the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK). It is designed to give a company a wide management capability, considering common language, advanced knowledge set, robust methodology, with accurate supporting tools those are used to maximize the productivity and effectiveness for completing the project successfully within estimated time and budget. Hornstein (2015), opined that, the intension of methodology is to develop a standard for best project management practice, and procedure throughout all aspects of technical landscape. All over the business organization, project management methodology acts as an essential tool to deliver project objectives. In order to improve the prospect of project goals and meeting, regardless of the complexity and size of the project the project manager should select project management methodology . The possibility of project success increases automatically if the most suitable project management methodology is selected by the project managers or business organization. However if anyone fails to identify accurate project management methodology then the entire project may also fail to reach the project objectives (Chofreh et al., 2015). The methodologies used in the projects are of several types consists of basic idea and characteristics such as complexity, requirement finding, schedule and many more. Again project management methodology can also be determined as an application of knowledge, tools, skill and techniques for meeting or even exceeding the project requirements. It helps to ensure that the project will be completed within estimated time and budget. Each aspect of the project can be managed successfully with accurate project management methodology (Joslin Muller, 2015). It also provides a means of identifying the risks as well as opportunities those are associated along with the project. Even from a broad aspect, it can be said that, each component of a project can be managed and supported with proper project management methodology. Comparison and contrast between Prince2 with project management body of knowledge (PMBOK) There are many authors who have provided valid resultant of the comparison and contrast between Prince2 and PMBOK. The first and foremost thing to be considered states that PRINCE2 project life cycle is based upon six processes from the initiation to closure phase (De Carvalho et al., 2015). Two different phases those are avoided in PRINCE2 include directing project and planning a project. With the help of PRINCE2 the three different phases of project life cycle those are described include product based planning, quality review and change control. On the other hand, the PMBOK guide documents a set of standard terminology, knowledge that supports and manages a project successfully (Kerzner Kerzner, 2017). It is described as a standard of project management. PMBOK contains lots of tools, processes and techniques collectively. However; it fails to explain all those information that might be useful for recording in such kind of outputs. On the other hand, PRINCE2 explains different info rmation that, may be useful for recording the process output. PMBOK guide structures the guidelines in 47 different processes those are again grouped in 5 small categories (Joslin Mller, 2015). PMBOK guide contains summary of a inter personal skills those are useful for the project managers, also along with a list of external references for those readers who wants to find out their skills. PRINCE2 is process based project management methodology however OMBOK is knowledge based approach to project management. PRINCE2 defines the role of each individuals associated to the project but PMBOK is much focused on the role of the project manager only (Tomanek Juricek, 2015). The final certification of PRINCE2 confirmed within 1 weeks starting from the training period but the PMBOK certification takes one month for complete confirmation. Thus, it can be said there are many similarities between these two project management methodologies, but there are dissimilarities as well. Relation of waterfall methodology with the Project Life Cycle (PLC) PRINCE2 project management methodology is comprises of 4different integrated elements such as principles, themes and processes. This is a de facto process based methods for that can effectively serve project management. It is focused on business justification, defines organizational structure for the project manager and also project management team as well. This is used for product based project planning.
